Visit of the Citadelle of Québec and the Governor General Residence

Come and visit an historical residence in the heart of the Old Capital combine with a guided visit of the Citadelle of Québec! A great introduction to the Québec’s history and its military life!

Citadelle of Québec Located atop Cap Diamant, the Citadelle constitutes the eastern flank of Quebec's fortifications. Inspired by it, romantic writers have called Québec the "Gibraltar of America". In 1820, the construction of the Citadelle began; and it lasted for more than 30 years. The star-shaped plan of the Citadelle is characteristic of Vauban fortifications. The continued presence of the Royal 22e Regiment at the Citadelle since 1920 makes it the largest fortified group of buildings still occupied by troops in North America. You will also have the opportunity to see the impressive presentation of the Changing of the Guard...

General Governor’s Residence Located within the confines of La Citadelle de Québec and overlooking the majestic St.Lawrence River, the Official Residence of the Governor General is divided into two wings. The first one, built in 1831, houses the private quarters of the Governor General whereas the second one, inaugurated in 1984, comprises State rooms where official ceremonies are held.

Inspired by the cool colors of the Québec winter, the new wing combines the elegance of a contemporary design with the architectural shell of Regency-style. The residence also provides a showcase for contemporary Canadian and New France-style furniture.

Departure time: 8:30 a.m.
Return to the hotel: 12:30 p.m.
